Comparative Analysis of Carbon Removal Solutions
The project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the differences between nature-based and technology-based carbon removal solutions (CDR). As climate change becomes an increasingly pressing issue, companies like Wood Mackenzie are exploring various methods to mitigate carbon emissions. Nature-based solutions typically involve leveraging natural processes, such as reforestation and soil carbon sequestration, to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. In contrast, technology-based solutions include advanced methods like direct air capture and carbon mineralization. The goal of this project is to categorize and analyze these solutions, highlighting their effectiveness, scalability, and potential environmental impacts. By doing so, learners will apply their classroom knowledge of environmental science and sustainability to real-world challenges, gaining insights into the practical applications and limitations of different CDR strategies.
