The Racialized Students is a registered non-profit organization. We launched in 2020 during the onset of the pandemic. We were founded to be a resource for Black and racialized students to partake in meaningful research training and networking opportunities that help them advance throughout their academic journey and career journey.
We achieve this through the provision of mentorship, research, and employment training opportunities.
Our mission is to increase the representation of Black people across interdisciplinary Health sectors and increase the rate of employment among Black youth through career advancement training.
We envision a safer and inclusive Toronto where all Torontonians particularly Black and racialized communities can access services and employment free from racism and discrimination.

Education Learning Research Analyst
The project aims to explore and identify effective learning and communication strategies tailored for diverse and non-traditional learners within the sports sector. The goal is to gather insights from various fields such as education, sports, and neurolearning to enhance literacy programs and improve the acquisition and application of knowledge. This research will specifically contribute to the development of the Sankofa Bridge program by providing evidence-based strategies that can be implemented to support diverse learners. The project will involve a comprehensive review of existing literature, case studies, and best practices from related industries. By focusing on the intersection of sports and education, the project seeks to bridge gaps in learning methodologies and foster inclusive educational environments.
Medical Research Reviewer
The main objective of this medical research project is to assess and ensure the accuracy of research endeavors related to breast cancer and diabetes within the context of Afro medical research. The goal is to review and evaluate research projects conducted by students, with a focus on verifying the accuracy of the methodologies, data analysis, and overall findings. Supporting the development of this project will involve: Conduct background research to review the health content to ensure they are accurate and the sources are credible. Provide feedback and recommendation to improve our health research content. Add 30mins meeting with our admin team and our placement student to discuss the reviewed health contents. Students would need to have a Medical background/ currently in medical school
Small Business Market Research Analyst
This project aims to conduct a comprehensive market research study focused on identifying hiring and skills gaps among small businesses in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The goal is to gather data that will inform strategies to enhance hiring capacity and workforce skills development. By analyzing current hiring trends and identifying specific skill shortages, the project will provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by small businesses. Additionally, the research will explore various hiring incentives, such as Canada Summer Jobs, Wage Subsidy programs, and credit lending programs, that small businesses can leverage to support their hiring needs. The findings will be used to develop recommendations for partnerships and programs that can help bridge these gaps and support small businesses in their growth and development.
Curriculum Researcher for Sankofa Bridge Program
The main objective of this project is to enhance student learning through a program called Sankofa Bridge Program at Downsview Secondary School. The project aims to address the needs of students by providing additional support and reinforcement of class materials, ultimately contributing to increased academic success. The students involved in this project are expected to achieve a deeper understanding of the class material and show improvement in their academic performance. Requirements for Participants: Must be a Master’s or PhD student enrolled in a teaching school in Ontario. Must be able to commute to Downsview Secondary School. Must complete a vulnerable sector check to ensure the safety of the students involved. Aspiration to become a high school teacher or professor.
