PROJECT SCOPE

Shepherds of Good Hope is an Ottawa based nonprofit. Shepherds of Good Hope foster hope and reduce harm in Ottawa by supporting the homeless and most vulnerable with specialized services, programs and partnerships.

Shepherds of Good Hope is currently seeking a prospective student who have skills as a solution architect. Working directly with the Senior Manager of Business Evaluation and Analytics Management, the successful student, based on their skills strengths would be asked to create up to two software solutions that automate existing administrative task, data collection or data dashboard.

With consultation with supervisor, the student may also substitute one software creation project with a written business proposal that aims to solve an existing work utilizing technologies. The second option does not require the student to produce a software project, and the student will be given an opportunity to directly make the project presentation to senior leadership team for approval.

To interested student will be responsible the following area of works:

  • Analyzing 1-2 current existing process, and determine ways to improve utilizing technologies
  • Project manage up to 2 projects simultaneously
  • Delivering up to 2 software solutions. Or 1 software solution and 1 business proposal, to be present to senior leadership for approval.
  • Programming solution through MS Power Apps, or alternative programs such as Visual Basic, Python, etc.
  • Hosting meeting with management and/or director, incorporating their input into solution
  • Project manage up to 2 projects simultaneously
  • Collaborative with I.T., Data, and other specialist to complete the determined projects

Successful candidate should possess the following skills

  • Understanding and interest in solution architect
  • Project management skills in identifying goals, hosting meeting with organization leaders, establish project timeline and crafting business proposal
  • Software engineering skills with Microsoft Power Apps and/or equivalent (Visual Basic, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge in I.T. and cybersecurity best practices
  • Organization skills in documentation, follow up on tasks, and keeping stakeholders inform
  • Ability to work independently and in team environment
