We have a basic data driven website with main technology stack of Django, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Postgres etc. We would like to explore more cost effective server providers so that we can enlarge the database for the website to receive, store and present more data. Also we would like to optimize the backend Django code for the website to add more features, optimize database and increase the page loading speed. So the main objectives are server selection, server configuration and backend optimization.

The students should perform these tasks:

1. Study various VPS providers so that we can get a dedicated server at a lower cost/month

2. Once the server is selected, the students will have to configure the new server and deploy the existing code on the new server and database

3. Optimize backend code of Django for modularity and implementation new features such as file exports, higher page speed, etc

4. Optimize the database design to handle data in MB or larger size.

We will support the students by:

1. having regular meetings

2. providing essential knowledge of the existing code

3. mentoring on how to effectively develop the web app.

4. providing access to our wide course base tp get technical training.
